Fill of infant bural in grave cut A-021. The fill at the upper level of the cut was compact and rich in mudbrick fragments, very much like the deposit into which the grave was cut, meaning that the cut was not identified until a few cm above the top of the infant bones. The fill at the lower level around the bones was looser and less bricky. A small amount of ancient ceramic and a few animal bone fragments were recovered from the fill. The skeleton was of a very young infant, laid on its right side, E-W, with the head at the west end (Islamic). The burial was undisturbed and reasonably well preserved. It appears that the cut was slightly short for the infant, so that the legs are somewhat contracted towards the torso and the feet bones are against the eastern limit of the cut. The burial was recorded and immediately reburied by the reps approx 100m north of the excavation
