Description:
Grave fill for late infant burial in cut [A-008]. The fill was very loose and consisted of fine clay-rich lumps in a siltier matrix. No pottery was recovered or finds of other kinds. The burial itself was of a very young infant - neonate or below. It was so small the bones had to be planned at 1:5. The skeleton was almost totally disarticulated. The lower part of the skull appeared to be the only bone still in situ. This disarticulation was almost certainly due to the rodent burrow in the eastern end of the cut - the baby was eaten...
