Cut of a circular, round-bottomed pit cut through A-022. The pit almost certainly was also cut through A-017, the deposit above, as a possible pit was investigated in this area at the level above. In A-017, the cut could not be fully defined however, only less than half of its circumference was visible. This is largely due to the upper fill of the pit A-023 being stuffed with mudbrick lumps making it very similar to A-017, but having some contrast with the siltier A-022. The almost perfectly circular plan, and round profile of the pit suggests that it may have once held the base of a large storage jar.
