Description:
Grave fill of late infant burial (cut [A-003]), poorly preserved as it is only barely below the plough zone and has been disturbed. Head at the W end of the E-W oriented grave, suggesting it is Islamic. The right side of the ribcage was the best preserved element, but there were also in situ parts of the right arm and leg, and fragments of skull pelvis. The fill contained a small amount of pottery which appears Iron Age or earlier and is probably simply backfill of the dug grave cut. No grave goods, obviously. Bones were not retained but immediately reburied approx 100m north of the trench, as requested by the representatives.
